Training (AHPCSA)

Therapeutic Reflexology is a registerable profession with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA).    As such, all training must comply with the Allied Health Professions Act No. 63 of 1982 (as amended) and all training institutions offering courses in therapeutic reflexology must be registered with the AHPCSA.

An Acceptable syllabus

History of Reflexology Location of reflexes and detailed knowledge of charts Practical work including instruction in various techniques Preparation of therapist and patient Clinical case histories Counselling skills through the art of observation and listening Practice management, advertising, jurisprudence, code of ethics and practice Anatomy, physiology, pathology and pathophysiology A working knowledge of the structure and functions of the human body in state of health, and ill health Recognition of conditions of patients who should be referred to other practitioners Practical assignments A specific number of treatments as clinical case histories Complementary insights An introduction to a basic understanding of meridians, zones, nutrition, vitamins and minerals First aid
